Beijing Day 3

Sunday, September 27, for our last full day in Beijing we took a more relaxing approach. We first headed to the Temple of Heaven which is located in a large park. Throughout the park people were doing their morning Taichi, which was pretty fun to watch. After walking through the park and viewing the Temple of Heaven the girls and I headed to the Pearl Market. Pearls in China are very inexpensive because they are easy to find here. We were given first class treatment in the jewelry store, where we got to hand select our pearls and settings. Bill Clinton, Collin Powell, Mrs. Bush, etc all shopped at this store!! After doing a good amount of damage to our credit cards we headed to the Summer Palace. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties the Emperor's would head to the Summer Palace for a relaxing retreat. The views were beautiful. I did forget to mention in my first post that throughout our visit we had people take hundreds of photos of us (especially Sarah). Many Chinese people have never seen light/blond hair people so many natives would ask to take pictures with us! At the Summer Palace I swear we were taking pictures for 20 mins! haha. After the Summer Palace we ventured back to the Olympic Village to see it at night! I thought it was much cooler at night! We ended our stay in Beijing with a western dinner at Friday's!
